    Paul Roggemanns’ introduktion:

    Meteor
astronomy is booming! Never before so many camera networks have been
set up by dedicated amateurs and never before so much news and results
    has been shared.
    Trying to keep informed about
the developments in amateur meteor work became rather difficult.
Specialized journals require many months before anything gets through
the editing procedures for publications and most of these journals are
very expensive and beyond the budget for amateurs. This explains why
most results of amateur meteor observers are being shared on internet,
on dedicated news groups, social media such as Facebook and Twitter or
my email. This is a jungle of information from which we see only
fragments of the information. Internet isn’t very stable, hyperlinks
change or disappear and aren’t suitable for any archiving or as
    references.
This is not an ideal situation.

    Looking
for alternatives to improve the exchange of information, a dedicated
website to share Meteor News appeared to be the most efficient and fast
    way to exchange news.
    It should be independent
from any society and free of charge in order to be accessible for
    everybody without any bureaucratic overhead.

Thanks to the efforts of Roman Piffl, the website has been created early this month: http://meteornews.org/. More explanation can be read: http://meteornews.org/why-emeteornews/.

    The
purpose is to work with a number of regular contributing editors who
keep ears and eyes open to catch up any interesting news and publish
about it. Editing accounts are managed by Roman Piffl. More information
on how to publish in MeteorNews can be found:
    http://meteornews.org/writing-content-for-emeteornews/.
The basic idea is to keep it all as simple and straight forward as
possible, content can be sent as simple text in an e-mail to one of the
editors who will put it online.

    Every
now and then a selection will be made from the content to compile a
periodic eZine in the format of a PDF to allow for references and
archiving. This PDF journal will be free accessible for download for
everybody. Two examples have been worked out to show how the content of
    the eMeteorNews Journal
in PDF format will look like:

    Since
we just started from scratch, we are still in a testing phase with the
MeteorNews website still under construction. We got started and our hope
is to have a first prototype of the journal eMeteorNews ready in May
2016. The rest of 2016 will be a test period in which some more issues
of eMeteorNews will be prepared. By end of 2016 we’ll see where we get
    and decide for the future.

We hope we can bring together as much meteor related news as possible.
